Late Summer Salad

Salty, sweet, and crunchy - this salad has it all!

ingredients
2 cups romaine (1 heart), chopped
1/2 a medium pear, chopped
5 radishes, sliced
1/4 cup dried cranberries
2 slices crisp turkey bacon, chopped*
1 ounce feta cheese, crumbled*
1/8 cup walnuts, chopped
2 tbsp balsamic vinaigrette

cal: 245,  fat: 10.5g,  protein: 14g,  fiber: 4.5g

*We would take out the bacon and cheese for a delicious vegan lunch!

Become One With Yourself

Yoga has grown to become a global phenomenon in the past few years. The bodywork has been around for centuries, but in the last decade or so, it has turned in to a fitness trend for all.  

In western cultures, yoga is focused on the asanas (physical poses) and also includes specific breathing techniques.

Yoga is apt to provide a variety of physical and mental improvements if done regularly. It helps heal the mind and body through physical movements, poses, breathing and strength building.

A purpose behind yoga is to help find inner balance. Obtaining that is done through the individual. One cannot be told how to become balanced they must do it themselves. The teacher is there to lead the students through the movements, but the student is the one responsible for their practice.

There are a multitude of styles of yoga that available to anyone interested. It comes down to simply finding what is right for you. Power Vinyasa classes are strength building and flexibility classes. Hot Vinyasa classes also help increase flexibility.  Iyengar is done to focus primarily on alignment in poses and can also support strength and posture. Kundalini is a practice that focuses on breath.

The body will react to imbalances when doing yoga initially, but once you find the equilibrium you will become more in tune with your body.
